Many years ago, Romero Kantún, now a retired fisherman, discovered an oil field near his island, which caused him to be shunned by his friends and neighbors who lost their livelihoods as fishermen. Now, immersed in nostalgia and tormented by his past, he feels it is time to recover the love and honor that were taken from him decades ago, when fate led him to discover that great oil stain.
